Award recognizes scale-ups with the most potential to become future European tech giants.

London, 25 January 2022 - Circulor, the leading provider of supply chain traceability and embedded carbon tracking, has been selected by DIGITALEUROPE, Europe's leading digital trade association, as one of three finalists to be awarded its annual Future Unicorn Award.

Now in its fifth year, the Future Unicorn Award celebrates scale-ups from across Europe that have the potential to become future tech giants. Circulor was selected from a shortlist of 17 companies that were nominated by each European country’s national trade association in a process that considered thousands of potential participants across all sectors.

The recognition as a finalist reflects Circulor’s ability to deliver for its customers the most mature, proven, and complete technology solution for gaining full visibility into complex industrial supply chains. With Circulor’s technology, businesses can track the physical flow of critical materials from extraction to final production, as well as embedded carbon across Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, and progress toward achieving ESG goals.

“On behalf of the entire Circulor team, we are honored to be recognized for our commitment to make complex industrial supply chains more transparent and prevent the exploitation of people and our planet," said Circulor Co-Founder and CEO Douglas Johnson-Poensgen. “This is a special recognition given the caliber of innovation that Europe is currently delivering for the world and its particular focus on clean technologies that solve our biggest global issues. We look forward to continuing to support businesses both in Europe and around the world in building responsible, sustainable, and resilient value chains on the foundation of transparency."

“This year’s Future Unicorn Award finalists prove beyond doubt that small companies and scale-ups are the engine of social and environmental innovation, helping European citizens and businesses access better jobs, cut food waste, and source more sustainably thanks to digital technologies” said Cecilia Bonefeld-Dahl, Director-General of DIGITALEUROPE.

Founded in 2017, Circulor has publicly raised £20 million, led by The Westly Group, a notable early-stage investor in Tesla, and joined by the venture arms of a number of the company’s clients, including Boeing, Volvo Cars, Jaguar Land Rover, TotalEnergies, and BHP. In its five years, Circulor has honed a particular focus on the tracking and tracing of critical materials for electric vehicle batteries, including provenance, production flow, and GHG emissions of cobalt, nickel, lithium, and mica, to name a few.

The winner of the Future Unicorn Award will be announced on February 3, 2022, in Brussels at DIGITALEUROPE’s annual flagship conference, Master of Digital, where European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, Mariya Gabriel, will headline the ceremonies.
