Award recognises Circulor’s potential to become a future European tech giant

London, 3 February 2022 – Circulor, the leading provider of supply chain traceability, has been selected from thousands of companies across Europe as the winner of this year’s DIGITALEUROPE Future Unicorn Award. The award was announced today by Mariya Gabriel, European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, at DIGITALEUROPE’s annual flagship conference, Masters of Digital.

In its sixth year, the Future Unicorn Award celebrates scale-ups with the most potential to become Europe’s future tech giants. A truly pan-European initiative, national technology trade associations affiliated with DIGITALEUROPE evaluate thousands of tech companies and put forward their most promising scale-ups. Selected and recommended by TechUK, Circulor was considered among 17 nominees across 14 European countries before today’s announcement as the winner.

The award reflects Circulor’s ability to deliver for its global customers the most mature, proven, and complete technology solution for gaining full visibility into complex industrial supply chains. With Circulor, businesses can track the physical flow of critical materials from extraction to final production, as well as associated ESG characteristics, including embedded carbon across Scope 1 and 2 emissions, to create a dynamic picture of inherited emissions at the downstream.

“Circulor is a brilliant example of how European innovators expand within and beyond European borders,” says Cecilia Bonefeld-Dahl Director-General of DIGITALEUROPE, which represents 35,000 European businesses. “Digital technologies have the potential to help other industries save 20% of global CO₂ emissions. The digital solutions provided by Circulor enable industrial supply chains to become sustainable and reveal CO₂ emissions to customers and the public. Digital action is climate action.”

“Thank you to EU Commissioner Gabriel and DIGITALEUROPE for this honour and recognising Circulor as a future unicorn of Europe,” says Founder and CEO Douglas Johnson-Poensgen. “Tackling inherited carbon emissions in complex industrial supply chains is essential to a successful energy transition. Our digital solution enables our customers and growing networks to come together and gain the insights they need to affect real change on the path to net-zero.”

Founded in 2017, Circulor has publicly raised £20 million, led by The Westly Group, a notable early-stage investor in Tesla, and joined by the venture arms of a number of the company’s clients, including Volvo Cars, Jaguar Land Rover, TotalEnergies, BHP and Boeing. Circulor has recently been selected and recognised by such prominent lists as Global Cleantech 100ProcureTech100 by Kearney and Future 5 by Spend Matters.
